One of my friends sent me this e-mail, and I thought it was so amazing. It is 45 life lessons learned by a fifty year old lady. They were all great lessons, but six of them really stood out to me, and I thought I would share them.
1) "Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about."
I LOVE this. How often do we compare our houses, our clothes, our struggles, our personalities, our paychecks, our blessings, our family, our friends, our past, present, and future with others? What's the point? We are each on our own UNIQUE journey in this world. We all have our own purpose, and our house, our clothes, our struggles, personalities, paychecks, blessings, family, friends, past, present and future are what makes us who we are and they help us complete our OWN journey.
2) "Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere."
Most of us, myself included, don't take enough time out of the day to enjoy the sun, the sky, little squirrels running around, flowers, breezes, rain... you name it. I encourage everyone to go outside and look at something of nature. Stare at its beauty for a few minutes. Think of its anatomy, its functions, how it formed, how it moves (if it moves), how it grows, etc. It really is a miracle. I love looking at big, beautiful trees, and when I pass by one, I think, "God put that there for us to look at it. He gave us this beautiful thing just to enjoy."
3) "If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back."
This is awesome, and I bet it is so true. This kind of goes along with #1. Everyone has struggles, and while we do go through hard times, it isn't that bad.
4) "God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn't do."
I need to remember this everyday! Christ died for us when we were still sinners. He loves us no matter what. I keep having this image/dream of me unzipping my flesh, literally, and walking in the Spirit. I have this flesh/shell that has its own desires and sins, but that is not the core of who I am. I am underneath that, and the spirit is full of love, joy, and peace.
5) "Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don't worry; God never blinks."
This brings me peace, and I hope it brings you peace as well.
6) "Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift."
True happiness and contenment aren't based off circumstances. Happiness is a choice that pnly we are in control of. Hope this blesses you in some way today!
